Six police cars and a helicopter were involved in a 30-mile pursuit of a stolen articulated dumper truck which was reportedly being driven dangerously this afternoon.

The pursuit started on the A11 at the Thickthorn roundabout shortly after 12.30pm today and ended two hours later in Bury Road, Brandon.

Three police cars were damaged in the 30-mile chase, which alos involved the National Police Air Service helicopter.

The truck headed down the A11 from Thickthorn as far as Thetford before turning right onto the A134 to Mundford.

It then turned left onto an off-road fire track before rejoining the A134 further down.

The vehicle then turned left onto the A1065 heading south before coming to a stop on Bury Road in Brandon.

Road users were warned to be cautious.

A man, aged in his late 30s, was arrested shortly after 2.30pm. He will be taken into police custody for questioning.
