Concerned members of the public phoned police today reporting that a fight had broken out between a large group of children.
The incident happened outside Kesgrave High School, in Main Road, on the outskirts of Ipswich, just after 4pm.
Two members of the public and also a police community support officer (PSCO) called the Suffolk Constabulary control room asking for assistance.
Despite initial reports of an altercation, a police spokeswoman said when officers arrived no crimes had taken place and the children left the scene.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk Constabulary said the people involved were believed to be school age.
The area was clear by 5.40pm.
