POLICE are investigating the discovery of two bodies inside a house in Newmarket.

The bodies of a man and a woman were found by officers at a bungalow in New Cheveley Road at 5.15pm on Friday.

Firefighters and police found evidence of a fire after being called to the bungalow following reports expressing concern about the welfare of two people believed to have been at the property.

The man and woman have been named as Keith McDonald, 47, of Newmarket and Christine McDonald, 48, of New Cheveley Road, Newmarket.

Det Supt John Raine, of Cambridgeshire Police, said: β€œAt this stage we are not looking at any third party involvement and are treating the deaths as an isolated incident.”

Forensic experts were due to attend the scene today and detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Post-mortem examinations are likely to take place on Sunday.
