POLICE are today hunting robbers who struck at an Essex shop.

Three men stole £200 from the till and electricity tokens from a shop in Hythe Quay, Colchester on Sunday at 9.45pm.

The 31-year-old shop owner was hit with a hammer.

One of the robbers had a claw hammer and another man had an object concealed in a cloth which may have been a firearm.

The shop owner was struck on the shoulder but not injured seriously.

All three suspects which wore balaclavas which concealed their faces.
