Police in lorry search for immigrants

POLICE officers pulled over two lorries suspected of carrying illegal immigrants in Suffolk.The lorries were taken off the road on the A14 westbound at the Haughley Bends shortly after 2pm, following information received from Cambridgeshire police.

POLICE officers pulled over two lorries suspected of carrying illegal immigrants in Suffolk.

The lorries were taken off the road on the A14 westbound at the Haughley Bends shortly after 2pm, following information received from Cambridgeshire police.

A spokesman for Suffolk police said: “We pulled them over near to Haughley and carried out some initial searches of the vehicles and found nothing so far.”

The vehicle searches will continue today.
