Mobile speed cameras will be located in various parts of west Suffolk and the greater Ipswich area as part of an ongoing bid to improve road safety.

Teams from the Norfolk and Suffolk Safety Camera and Central Ticket Office have tweeted their locations for Thursday, December 15.

They will be in Barnham, Barton Mills, Red Lodge, Wrentham, Westleston, Bucklesham, Ipswich and Sproughton during the course of the day.

Suffolk police regards excessive or inappropriate speed as one of the ‘fatal four’ driving offences which contribute to deaths and serious injuries on the county’s roads every year.

The other three of the ‘fatal four’ driving offences are driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, not wearing a seatbelt and driver distractions – like using a mobile phone behind the wheel.

Over Christmas, road policing team will be focusing on drink and drug driving, an offence which is often more prevalent at this time of year.
