BRITAIN'S biggest container port re-opened this afternoon after being closed for four hours because of strong winds.

Officials at Felixstowe said the wind had dropped and rail and container yard operations had resumed.

“Some delays are likely as the port works to recover to normal operational status,” said a spokesman.

Cranes cannot operate once winds reach 45mph.

Port officials appealed earlier for truckers to delay their journeys to avoid getting caught in queues.
