A pre-inquest review into the death of former Ipswich Town striker Dalian Atkinson has been rescheduled and will now take place on June 5.
The review was due to be heard today at Shrewsbury Coroner’s Court, but has been moved to the summer.
Atkinson, 48, who also played for Sheffield Wednesday, Real Sociedad and Aston Villa, died at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford in August.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission is investigating the death, which followed an incident in Trench, Telford, during which police deployed a taser.
In a joint statement issued through a law firm following his death, his siblings said: “From his earliest years, our beloved little brother had his heart set on becoming a professional football player.
“He pursued his ambition with determination, and before he had left school, his abilities had been recognised by a talent scout working on behalf of Ipswich Town.
“Dalian grew to be a kind, caring and protective brother, with a lively personality: he was funny and cheeky. He always brought life and energy to family gatherings - when Dalian turned up, we knew there would be laughter and banter.”
