POLICE searching for the masked gunman who fired a sawn-off shotgun at a Suffolk officer have spoken to 80 members of the public.The 31-year-old policeman, who has not been named, was less than ten yards from the balaclava-clad gunman when he opened fire in Stadbroke, near Eye at 8.

from the balaclava-clad gunman when he opened fire in Stadbroke, near Eye at 8.50pm on Tuesday.

Despite the extensive house to house enquiries, and appeals for information, detectives have been unable to trace the anonymous caller who phoned police at 8.20pm to report men acting suspiciously in Willby Road.

Police are still searching for the white Citroen Saxo, which the gunman leapt out of before the shooting. This car is described as a sporty model with a white bumper, either a UTS or UTR model.
