RAIL users travelling between Ipswich and Norwich suffered disruption on Saturday after a suspected suicide led to the line being closed for more than two hours.
British Transport Police closed the line following reports from a train driver that he believed he had hit a person at Swainsthorpe in Norfolk.
The incident, which involved the 7.39am service from Norwich, happened within just a few minutes of the train leaving the city's station.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “Upon arrival of the local police it was quite clear that there was a person that had taken their own life in front of the train.
“The incident caused major disruption to services on the line which eventually reopened at 10.18am.”
The spokesman added that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
