A man arrested on suspicion of assaulting a runner in the Rushmere area of Ipswich has been released under investigation by police.

The alleged attack took place in a wooded area, close to Foxhall Stadium, on Saturday, February 17.

A 19-year-old male runner reported being an unknown man and assaulted at about 9.15pm near Kelvedon Drive.

The runner sustained injuries to his stomach, hand and elbow.

He was taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment, before being released later that evening.

A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) the following Friday.

He was released on bail until Wednesday, March 21, after being taken into custody and interviewed at Martlesham Heath police investigation centre.

Suffolk police confirmed the suspect had answered bail and was released under investigation pending further enquiries.
