THREE dedicated scouts in Suffolk have been given the movement's highest honour in recognition of their hard work.

Nichola Day, Jessica Sheeran and Arron Allison were all given the Queen's Scout Award by the county commissioner, John Mabb.

The trio are all in their late teens and belong to the first Kirton Scout Group.

Denise Bloomfield, the assistant district commissioner for development for the Orwell district, said: “It is the highest award you can get in Scouting.

“You need to do all sorts of challenges to get it and it is a major achievement.

“Less than ten of these awards have been given out in Suffolk since 2000.

“We are really proud and we hope it will inspire other youngsters to take on the challenge too.”
