Karl Benton, 24, of Gainsborough Road, Stowmarket was arrested at the Whip Street Motor Scrapyard in Papermill Lane, Bramford where he had stolen a window heater switch and fuses from a scrap car, Ipswich Crown Court was told.
When officers searched Benton's car they discovered 14 ecstasy tablets, nine grams of amphetamine and 20 diazepam tablets.
Yesterday Benton admitted theft from the scrap yard, possessing ecstasy and diazepam tablets and possessing amphetamine with intent to supply.
He was given an 18-month community rehabilitation order but was warned by Judge John Devaux that if he re-offended he could be brought back before the court and sentenced to a term of imprisonment.
Benton was also ordered to pay £130 prosecution costs.
Guy Ayers for Benton said his client had used cannabis and amphetamine for some time and accepted that he sometimes shared his amphetamine with friends.
