COMEDY, singing and dancing, virtuoso musicianship - these are some of the treats in store coming to Felixstowe's Spa Pavilion, it was announced today.

An audience of 60 enjoyed a taste of what to expect at the Hotel Elizabeth Orwell in Felixstowe as theatre bosses launched the Seaside Special show.

Spa Pavilion manager Julie Howes said: “Over the years this traditional end-of-the-pier show has broken box office records.

“This is the first time the show has left its home in Cromer and we are thrilled it is coming to the Spa Pavilion.

“I am sure Felixstowe residents and theatregoers throughout Suffolk will be as pleased as we are at having the opportunity to see the show.”

Miss Howes said the theatre is hoping to make the show an annual event.

During the half hour performance launch the audience were treated to comedy from Johnny Mac, singing from Georg Tormann and Laura Grace and violin playing by Teadora Ilieva.

Compere Peter Piper said: “The show has been in Cromer for 31 years and we are delighted to be bringing Seaside Special to Felixstowe.”

Audience member Marion Brown, of Ardleigh, in Essex, said: “I thought it was a wonderful show. I liked the comedy. There's a nice mix and it was all very good.”

Felixstowe town councillor Doreen Savage welcomed the move to bring the show to the town.

She said: “I've had a damn good laugh. It is a superb show and I'm delighted it is coming to Felixstowe. We have been trying to encourage shows like this to come here for a long time.”
