Driver of overturned lorry on Nacton Road roundabout ‘de-arrested’ without charge

A lorry driver has been released without charge following his arrest on suspicion of drink driving after his vehicle overturned on a roundabout just outside Ipswich.

The roundabout connecting Nacton Road with The Havens reopened in the early hours of this morning following Friday’s collision, which resulted in the driver’s arrest.
The man, in his 50s, was de-arrested without charge on Friday evening.
The articulated lorry overturned on the roundabout near the onslip for the A14 westbound.
The incident happened at around 5.30pm on Friday underneath the A14 bridge heading onto the A14 westbound, just after the roundabout near the Toyota garage and Holiday Inn.
A spokeswoman from Suffolk police said the lorry had gone on to its left side, and was causing severe delays in the area.
One lane remained open until recovery arrived, when the roundabout was closed.

The Orwell Bridge was already due to be closed from 8pm for overnight works.
Police urged traffic to avoid the area while recovery took place.
The vehicle was a curtain lorry carrying a load of wood.
The lorry was cleared, and the road reopened, just before 3am this morning.
The driver – a man in his 50s – was able to get out of the lorry unhurt. He was taken to Ipswich Hospital with shock.
