SHOPLIFTERS beware – more than 200 businesses in Ipswich town centre have pictures of your face and are on the lookout!
Launching the "Ipswich Links File" – which contains a list of around 25 of the town's most prolific convicted store thieves – Ipswich Partnership's town centre manager John Stebbings told how the new book would keep retailers in touch.
"The files have been distributed to more than 200 members of Ipswich Partnership, Pub Watch, Club Watch and the Retail Crime Initiative," he said. "They have been really well received and the idea is that we'll continually update it."
As well as a list of known shoplifters, the file lists handy numbers for retailers such as the phone numbers of store managers and details of the Townlink radio system – enabling businesses to alert one another about the movements of suspicious characters and liase over security.
Businesses interested in becoming members of Ipswich Partnership should call 01473 433334.
