HEAVY snow showers were reported to be falling in the north of England late this afternoon causing chaos for motorists in parts of the Midlands.There were reports of 3ins falling in northern areas of Derbyshire with slippery roads making it dangerous for drivers trying to negotiate their way home from work.

Meanwhile, in Suffolk it remained cold but the county was free of any snowfalls.
