TOWN fans have joined forces with a building society and have topped the £5million mark in their contribution toward youth development at the football club.

Ipswich Town Football Club Manager Jim Magilton was today presented with a cheque from Britannia Building Society for over £750,000 taking the total amount raised by their customers above the £5million mark.

The cheque represents the full year's contribution from the Save and Support and Personal Loans partnership.

Since the Ipswich Town 'Save and Support' Accounts began in 1998, the Club has channelled the money received from the society in to the future development of the team and, in particular, the Club's highly rated Academy.

Invited guests from Britannia will be at tomorrow night's Championship match against Wolverhampton Wanderers in recognition of their huge contribution towards the success of the schemes.

Magilton said “The Save and Support Account, together with Ipswich Town Personal Loans, continues to help fund the development of the young players here and that's fantastic news for the Club.

“The Academy is this Club's pride and joy and this can only help continue to benefit the long term future of the Club.”
