SUFFOLK travellers can today fly to JFK airport in New York, direct from Stansted.

Eos Airlines touched down at the east anglian airport for the first time yesterday, marking the start of its new premium business class services between New York's JFK and Stansted.

The US airline will fly Boeing 757 aircraft with room for just 48 seats giving passengers 21 square feet of space each to relax on the once daily services from Stansted, with plans to increase that to twice daily from January.

David Spurlock, founder and chief executive officer of Eos, said: "Stansted airport is the perfect location to serve the business community, particularly those travelling from the city of London, Canary Wharf, central London and Cambridge.

“UK passengers who choose Eos for their transatlantic trip will find that we've raised the bar on what business travellers should expect and deserve. We look forward to making Stansted airport home to the world's first all business-class transatlantic carrier."

Welcoming EOS in to Stansted was BAA Stansted's director of communications Mark Pendlington, who said: “Business leaders have been telling us loud and clear that long-haul services from Stansted are a key component of business success, so we are very pleased our hard work and efforts to deliver a transatlantic route has paid off.”
