TOP bands, artists, poets, writers and comedians have been confirmed for this year's Latitude Festival at Henham Park.

The groundbreaking event - now in its third year - will take place from July 17-20 at the historic estate near Southwold.

Organiser Festival Republic has confirmed the line-up for the festival, which promises a mix of music, literary, comedy, cabaret and theatre on a host of stages and arenas.

Scottish art rockers Franz Ferdinand will headline the Obelisk Arena, one of four music stages, while other bands confirmed to appear include Sigur Ros, Interpol, Elbow, The Breeders and Death Cab for Cutie.

Comedians Bill Bailey, Ross Noble, Rich Hall and Simon Amstell are among the artists booked to perform at the comedy arena.

Other writers and artists to appear at the festival for performances and readings include Mark Lamarr, Irvine Welsh, Iain Banks and Simon Armitage.

Performances and exhibits will be spread across the sprawling estate, including a special stage deep in the woodland.

The two previous Latitude festivals have proved a great success, with crowds enjoying the ambient atmosphere and huge range of entertainment.

Melvin Benn, managing director of Festival Republic, said: “I cannot wait. It has so much in store that July 17 cannot come quickly enough for me.

“Latitude has, as I had hoped, re-written the rule book of what a festival might be and can be and of course therefore, immediately influenced other existing festivals and spurned copy cats.

“I am hardly surprised except that it has happened so quickly. It is a great compliment but it is only that.

“The real true festival of musical harmony, artistic and creative beauty is on the sunrise coast and is Latitude.”

Jon Dunn, who curates the music, said. “I'm excited with our headliners for this year's festival and looking forward to announcing further great acts over the forthcoming weeks.

“Franz Ferdinand will be phenomenal, Interpol will rock and captivate and the beautifully ethereal and epic Sigor Ros will soar.”

Weekend tickets cost £130 while day tickets cost £55. For further information on the line-up or ticketing information go to www.latitudefestival.co.uk.
