This year’s Stars of Suffolk winners and finalists have now been decided, after judges gathered at Hintlesham Hall to make their decisions.

The awards feature more than a dozen different categories, including outstanding bravery, community champion, police and fire awards, young person of the year, and many more. There will also be an overall winner, and special recognition awards.

Terry Hunt, editor of the EADT, one of the sponsors, said: “The judges had a tough task, as always. There were so many outstanding nominations that it was really difficult to pick winners. I know it’s a cliché, but they all deserve to be winners.

“There were also some very emotive stories and, yes, a few tears were shed. This event will recognise so-called ordinary people who do extraordinary things – and, in many cases, don’t realise it. They just say ‘Well, it’s what I do.’”

The awards evening takes place on November 19, at Wherstead Park, home of the East of England Co-op. It is organised by Mick and Ros Parker, of Parker Communications.

The headline sponsor is Flagship Housing Group, and other sponsors are the EADT/Ipswich Star, BBC Radio Suffolk, Servest, Ipswich Town FC, Ipswich Hospital, East of England Co-op, Hintlesham Hall, Suffolk New College, Suffolk County Council, Hudson Signs, Fred. Olsen Cruises, Adnams, Elmy Cycles, Ipswich Central, Cipher Crystal, Iain Ross, Jean Hosking (FLPA Images), Jackie Stoneman (First Team Business Partners), and JLS Catering.
