STREET entertainers and seaside sunshine combined to bring Felixstowe's town centre alive with plenty for shoppers to enjoy.

Stilt walkers, musicians, magicians, dance groups and majorettes were among the wide variety of attractions as the resort held a street festival in Hamilton Road this weekend.

The event - organised by the Chamber of Trade and supported by the Evening Star - was held in the pedestrianised area and around The Triangle.

There was lots for all ages to see, with balloon sculpting and face painting enjoyed by the youngest.

The chamber is planning to set up a series of events for the town centre next year to make it a bright and bustling place for residents and also visitors, bringing extra trade into the resort.

A sub committee has been set up and meetings have been taking place with police, businesses, event organisers and councils to draw up plans for 2010 and the aim of Saturday's street festival was to give a flavour of what is to come.
