HIGH winds have led to the closure of the Port of Felixstowe today.
Suffolk Police have launched Operation Stack, which effectively turns the A14 into an overspill car park for lorries, but are not expecting it to lead to traffic problems.
The operation allows lorries to park up safely in one lane of the carriageway after the port's premises have become full but leaves one lane free to allow access for other traffic.
A Suffolk Police spokesman said: “Operation Stack has been launched but traffic has not been affected. “There are not many lorries that come to the port on Sundays. It is their day of rest.”
