ActivIpswich helps get those aged 45 and above who do not take part in sport involved in gentle, sociable activity sessions with like-minded people. On Friday, dozens took part in a special competition all about kurling.

“Kurling is probably the most popular of the many sports that we play on the ActivIpswich programme,” said project manager Mike McCarthy.

“Competitions like this are all part of a programme that is designed to make it easy for anyone to get involved with fun, social sports activity, whatever their fitness level.

“We had players from 10 different groups taking part today which demonstrates the number of people getting active through accessible sports like this.”
