A cupcake company is celebrating the royal wedding in the best way its owners know how – on top of its iced creations.

Suffolk Cupcake Company are unveiling new designs created especially for Prince William and Kate Middleton’s big day.

And The Evening Star was privileged enough to preview them before anyone else.

The celebratory treats will feature the Union Jack and crowns in honour of Ms Middleton becoming Princess Kate.

Co-owner of the business Helen Challot, of Hitcham, is hoping cake-lovers will enjoy her regal creations before and during the much-anticipated ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

She said: “I think the royal wedding is quite exciting and people want to mark the day. We are hoping they get involved and try one of our special cupcakes.”

It was revealed in March Prince William and Ms Middleton have commissioned two cakes for their reception. One is a traditional iced fruitcake thought to feature the couple’s entwined initials. The other is an unbaked crushed tea biscuit and dark chocolate concoction which the Prince enjoyed as a child.

Ms Challot said: “It would be great if they decided to have cupcakes at the wedding but I’m not sure they would go quite so modern.”
