A film starring people from the area is set to be premiered in Ipswich this week as part of a major Cultural Olympiad project.

On Landguard Point, made by Pacitti Company, will be screened at Ipswich Film Theatre on Thursday, followed by various previews across the east of England over the summer.

Funded by the Arts Council England’s project Artists Taking The Lead, the film, which is about the notion of home, was shot across East Anglia and features footage from an eight-hour flag flying session at Landguard and a series of archaeological digs across the region involving members of the public.

Ipswich-born artistic director Robert Pacitti, who spearheaded the film, said: “Shot entirely in the East of England, On Landguard Point is partial and makes no claim to speak for everyone or even a whole region.

“The film explores how we forge our diverse notions of home, what shifts when we view home from afar, and what it means to host others in our homes.”

Helen Lax, the regional director for Arts Council England, East, added: “We hope this film will be a celebration of the East, its history, its identity, and its people.”

The film will be screened at 7.30pm at the film theatre and there will be a question and answer session with Mr Pacitti afterwards.
