A NEW locomotive at the Port of Felixstowe is to be named after Suffolk hero Captain Nathaniel Darell who successfully defended Landguard Fort against Dutch invaders in 1667.
A NEW locomotive at the Port of Felixstowe is to be named after Suffolk hero Captain Nathaniel Darell
who successfully defended Landguard Fort against Dutch invaders in 1667.
The new Class '08' locomotive, '08484', will be named in his honour in a ceremony to be held at the Port on Monday 2nd July 2007.
The ceremony will be attended by the Deputy Mayor of Felixstowe, Councillor Mike Deacon, the chairman and members of Landguard Fort Trust, members of Felixstowe History and Museum Society and the Felixstowe Society, as well as executives from the Port of Felixstowe.
