A woman in her 60s was left “alarmed” after being repeatedly asked for sex while walking in Ipswich town centre.
Suffolk police said the sexual assault happened at around 10.15pm on Friday when she was walking in Tower Ramparts.
A man approached her and reportedly propositioned her for sex.
“The victim said no and carried on walking in the direction of McGinty’s public house but the suspect put his arm around the woman and continued to ask for sex,” a police spokesman added.
“The victim went into the pub and approached staff, who assisted. Although the woman was unhurt she was upset and alarmed as a result of the incident.”
The offender is described as a black African man, around 30 years of age, 5ft 7ins tall, of athletic build, with black hair short at the sides and longer on top. The man was wearing all black clothing and a black leather jacket.
Witnesses or anybody who has any information are asked to call police on 101 quoting reference 30292/18.
