A teenager reported having her chest grabbed in an attack on an Ipswich railway bridge.

The 15-year-old girl was walking across the bridge near the junction of Wellesley Road and Marlborough Road at around 6.45pm on Sunday when she was grabbed from behind.

“She shouted out before freeing herself and ran back along Wellesley Road while her attacker walked off in the opposite direction,” a spokesman for Suffolk police said.

The victim had been walking from Ipswich town centre and had noticed a boy behind her near to Suffolk New College in Rope Walk. She saw the same person behind her when she reached Grove Lane.

She then walked along Woodville Road, then possibly Roseberry Road, to reach Wellesley Road.

The suspect is described as a white teenage boy, aged 16-18, of skinny build, and 5ft 5-8ins tall.

He had untidy ginger hair around 2-3ins long, was clean shaven and wearing a short sleeved T-shirt and possibly shorts.

Suffolk police are appealing for anyone who may have seen a person fitting the description, or who witnessed the assault to call 101, quoting reference 36417/18. Alternatively contact the independent charity Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their Anonymous Online Form.
