ORGANISERS of this year's Suffolk show have promised the event will be bigger and better than ever before as the clock ticks down to the showcase spectacle.

Being held on Wednesday May 28 and Thursday May 29, more than 670 livestock and equine classes will compete for more than £70,000 in prize money.

The local economy will also get a boost with visitors spending money and hundreds of workers needed to set up the event.

Chris Bushby, executive director at the Suffolk Agricultural Association, said: “It is the county show and Suffolk has a lot to be proud of.

“It is one of those rare times when the county comes together at all sorts of levels and is proud of what it says about the county.

“We think once again this is going to be an exceptional event and will build on the success of last year.”

One of the headline attractions this year will be the Equimax Metropolitan Police Activity Ride in the Grand Ring, the first time the equine display has ever been seen at the Suffolk Show.

For those who enjoy a little retail therapy there will be more than 700 trade stands to visit, such as fashion retailers, gardening and craftsmen.

Besides agricultural attractions, on the first evening of the Show, Take On That, a 'Take That' tribute band, will be performing from 6.30pm in the President's Lawn area.

Other musical entertainment during the show will be provided by the Ipswich Over 50s Brass Band, the Ipswich Hospital Band and the Ipswich Caribbean Steel Band!

Tickets are available now by phoning the dedicated ticket line - 01473 707117 or online at www.suffolkshow.co.uk and will be on sale until Thursday 22 May.

Family day tickets, including car parking, cost £45, but pre-show tickets can be bought at a discounted price of £35.
