MESSAGES of support have today been sent to Vici Gaecke, whose six-year-old son sadly died a year to the day after the loss of her 15-year-old daughter Sarah in a road accident.

Heartfelt tributes were posted on The Evening Star's website from friends, family and sympathetic readers who were saddened by the news of Mrs Gaecke's tragedy.

On December 21, last year - three days after her 15th birthday - Sarah was the passenger in a car involved in a collision on the A14. As she climbed from the wreckage she was struck by another car. The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

Last Sunday, December 21, ambulance crews were called to Mrs Gaecke's Ipswich home where her young son Jacob, who had severe physical disabilities including cerebral palsy, had died.

Jacob was born with holoprosencephaly, a brain malfunction which profoundly affected his physical abilities.

Mrs Gaecke, of Nacton Road, who is also mother to baby Isabelle, is now faced with the prospect of planning her second child's funeral.

As news of the latest tragedy was heard, kind messages of support began to filter through for Mrs Gaecke.

16-year-old Lyndi Fiddament went to Holywells High School with Sarah and remained friends with the Gaecke family after her death.

Lyndi experienced her own tragedy as a mother when she lost her baby while giving birth at Ipswich Hospital. She spoke to The Evening Star, saying: “I'm proud of Jacob - he'll always be my little star. I just want to ask him and Sarah to please look out for my little Jake.”

Messages of sympathy left on the Evening Star's website:

It's been a year now and we still miss you every day - and now your brother, Jacob. Look after yourself and your brother Sarah. Miss you angels.

I used to be Vici's postman and she is a lovely lady - always had a smile. My heart goes out to her.

Jacob will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. He was blessed to have a devoted mother like Vici, who always put Jacob and his needs first. Please pray for the family during this immense time of sorrow.
