A MANIAC who planted a suspect package which had to be blown up by the bomb squad is still being hunted today.

Officers investigating the incident which led to houses in Foxhall Road, Ipswich, have not ruled out that a neighbourhood feud could be behind the delivery of the dubious package.

Detectives are still trying to find out exactly why the parcel was left on the doorstep of a house and who sent it.

It is understood that the cardboard package contained a large battery, wiring and cotton wool and had been deliberately left outside a house near to the Golf Hotel to cause alarm.

It is still unclear why the package was left at the house nearly two and a half weeks ago, but it is believed there has recently been a series of feuds in the neighbourhood.

The owners of the property alerted police at about 8.30am after they noticed the unidentified item on their doorstep.

It had originally been thought the package had been delivered by a postman but this was not the case and police are still trying to track down the culprit.

A police spokesman today said: " I can confirm that investigations have revealed that there was nothing dangerous contained in the package.

"However, we would like to hear from anybody who was in the Foxhall Road area at the time of the incident and who noticed anybody acting suspiciously to help us shed light on this matter."
