Smiling for the camera, his wide, sparkly eyes belie the trauma he has been through in the first 12 months of his young life.
Throughout 2004 the tiny tot battled bravely through a series of hospital visits and major open-heart surgery.
Complications plagued his recovery, forcing him to spend weeks in intensive care with serious breathing problems.
Today he has just celebrated his first birthday and is fighting his way back to fitness while his family look forward to a happy and healthy 2005.
