RUSH hour drivers heading to Ipswich on the A12 were faced with a congestion headache today after an overturned van caused three miles of tailbacks.

The white Ford Transit van, which belongs to an Ipswich company, had been heading to Ipswich when the accident occurred at around 6.35am near Colchester.

Although no one was believed to be seriously hurt in the incident, both lanes of the carriageway were closed causing heavy congestion.

A spokesman for Essex police said one lane of the A12 had re-opened at around 8am.
