Two teenagers have denied attempting to rob a schoolboy after chasing him through a village and allegedly forcing him into a wooden trailer.

Giving evidence during their trial at Ipswich Crown Court, Jordan Cook and Luke Ellis admitted running after the 15-year-old alleged victim but denied forcing him to remove his school jumper and trousers.

Ellis admitted going through the boy’s school bag looking for money but said he hadn’t thought what he would do if he had found any cash.

Both Ellis and Cook denied forcing the boy into the trailer, but each admitted punching him once causing him to fall backwards.

The pair also denied anyone had produced a knife during the incident.

Ellis, 19, of Fitzgerald Road, Bramford, and Cook, 18, of Acton Road, Bramford have denied attempted robbery on May 23 last year and Cook has also denied having a knife.

Also before the court was a 16-year-old boy who denied attempted robbery and was cleared after the jury were directed by the trial judge to return a not guilty verdict in his case.

The court also heard that after the schoolboy was allegedly forced into a trailer near the doctor’s surgery in Barham near Ipswich, he offered the group his mobile phone but they didn’t want it.

He then gave them his school bag and the contents were poured out while members of the group allegedly searched for money.

The schoolboy was then allegedly told to take off his shoes, school jumper and trousers which he did and he was then ordered to remove jeans he was wearing under his school uniform but he refused, said Stephen Rose, prosecuting.

One of the group had then allegedly pulled out a knife before the schoolboy was allegedly punched in the face.

He fell back on to concrete with his nose bleeding and the group ran away.

A man who was out running in the village allegedly saw the schoolboy being chased and called the police after finding him injured and another witness allegedly saw the boy’s school bag being thrown in the air.

Police arrived at the scene and found the alleged victim’s shoes nearby in undergrowth near the trailer.

The trial continues.
