A pedestrian has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a vehicle at Levington near Ipswich this morning.

Police are appealing for information after the driver failed to stop following the collision on Felixstowe Road just after 9am today, Wednesday, December 6.

A road closure was put in place between Levington and Trimley St Mary as police investigated the scene but the road has since reopened.

A police spokeswoman said: “We were called shortly after 9am to a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle heading on Felixstowe Road towards Levington in Ipswich.

“The pedestrian, a man in his 20s, was out of his vehicle – a white Citroen van – when he was struck by a vehicle travelling in the direction of Trimley St Martin.

“The vehicle involved in this collision failed to stop, and is believed to be a small silver car.

“Police are making enquiries to trace this vehicle, which may have sustained damage as a result of the collision.”

The pedestrian was taken to hospital via ambulance, and is in a serious but stable condition.
