An Ipswich pub will attempt to set a new record on St George’s Day by assembling as many people with the name George as possible.
The Raven is calling on Georges, Georgies, Georgias and even Mr and Ms Georges to stand up and be counted at a family fun day on April 23.
Part of the Generous George family of pubs, The Raven will go up against 12 others across the UK in a fight for the title.
Manager Joe Sadler said: “George is a name that spans age and sex –and we want to gather men, women, girls and boys, of all ages, with every possible version of the name on St George’s Day for this attempt.
“As a thank-you for taking part and for helping us set a new Generous George record, all Georges in attendance will receive a complimentary drink, or a free ice cream for kids when they present proof of their name.”
The event will include a children’s knights and princesses party from 3-6pm, with a guest appearance from Peppa and George Pig, and from 9pm the pub will host a number of live music acts.
