FIREFIGHTERS were called to a three-car collision on the A120 at Ardleigh today.

The crash happened on the eastbound carriageway of the road at around 9.36am.

Two fire crews from Colchester, one Manningtree and one from Wivenhoe attended the scene.

No one was trapped in their vehicle but one car was in precarious position and crews used a winch to make it stable.

One lane of the road remained closed while the vehicles were recovered and three people were taken to hospital following the crash.

Clinical operations manager John Nicholls said: “There had been a collision between two cars, one of which had been towing a trailer. One car flipped over and ended up on an embankment.

“We assessed and treated three men at the scene. One had neck pain and one had lower back pain. Both patients were immobilised to protect their spine. The third man had no apparent injury, but was shaken up by what had happened.

“All three men were taken by ambulance to Colchester General Hospital for further care.”
