TICKETS are selling fast following the announcement that funnyman Jimmy Carr is on his way to Ipswich.

As reported in later editions of yesterday's Evening Star, the multi-award winning stand-up comic and television presenter is set to appear at the Corn Exchange on March 12.

Jimmy has enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame in the past couple of years going from being a little known comedian on the stand-up circuit to one of the most familiar comic faces on TV.

His live shows are more often than not complete sell outs, including a month of shows at the Edinburgh Festival in 2003 for which all tickets were sold by the second day of the festival.

And his television projects have brought him prestigious award nominations. He hosted Your Face Or Mine alongside June Sarpong, a show which won the 2003 Silver Rose of Montreux Award for Best Game Show, and has presented two series of twisted game show Distraction, which earned Jimmy a nomination for Best Presenter at last year's Rose D'or ceremony.

Jimmy also presents the Sunday breakfast show on London's xFM and is a prolific writer for other comedy shows, including Bo Selecta.

The inclusion of Jimmy Carr on the bill of entertainment coming to Ipswich is another boost for the new season.

Fame – The Musical launched the 2005 programme last week, attracting almost 10,000 customers. Meanwhile advanced ticket sales for all shows already tops £500,000 and many shows are complete sell outs months in advance.

All tickets have been sold for Lemar, Daniel O'Donnell, Michael Ball, Girls Aloud and Little Britain while fans wanting tickets for The Australian Pink Floyd Show, Jack Dee, Derren Brown, Andy Williams or Blondie are advised to book soon to avoid disappointment as these are also selling fast.

n Jimmy Carr will be at Ipswich Corn Exchange on March 12. Tickets cost £15 (plus booking fee) and are available from the Corn Exchange box office, by calling 01473 433100 or online at www.ipswichcornexchange.com
