Five men were jumping off Clacton Pier into the sea at around 6.30pm yesterday and emergency crews were called after two of the men were reported to be unconscious in the water.
Wattisham's rescue helicopter flew the seriously injured men to hospital. One has now died.
A man was killed when he plunged on to rocks in Devon last month while doing a tombstoning stunt.
