TOP British band Embrace will be making a visit to Suffolk when they embark on a tour next year, it has been announced today.

The band, who are currently performing a series of sold-out arena dates in London, Manchester and Glasgow have announced they will be holding a set open air gigs in June.

The date set for Suffolk will see the band perform at Thetford Forest in a gig that will mark the start of the month long set of appearances.

Known for songs such as The Good Will Out, All You Good Good People and Come Back to What You Know, Embrace have built up a huge loyal following and the announcement of these new dates is sure to be welcomed by fans.

The band have become known for playing in unusual places and the series of seven outdoor shows next year continues that trend.

Along with Thetford Forest, the band will be appearing Forestry Commission sites in Kent, Gloucestershire, Cheshire, Nottingham, Staffordshire and North Yorkshire.

Frontman Danny McNamara said of the tour: “We've played in some unusual places over the last few years; caves, beaches, even the Big Brother House.

“But next year we're trying something special even for us. In the past we've done secret gigs in forests giving the fans a map reference so they can find us, but these gigs are on a much bigger scale, they are going to be something else. The new album will be out by then and it gives us a great opportunity to play our new songs in really spectacular settings”.

Thetford Forest is earning a reputation as a popular venue for top bands to perform and last year hosted performances by some of the industry's biggest names.

The summer of 2004 saw forest performances by the Sugababes, the Fun Lovin' Criminals and former Roxy Music frontman Bryan Ferry.

This summer also saw top acts perform to sell out crowds, with artists including The Beautiful South, Madness and Ian Brown - of the Stone Roses - bringing their live shows to Thetford.

Tickets for all shows will cost £23 and go on sale from 9am on Friday.
