Mr Cameron was going to the town's railway station as part of a regional tour of East Anglia which included Stowmarket and Diss.
He was due to meet Ipswich council leader Liz Harsant and other Conservative candidates hoping to be elected to the borough next Thursday during a brief stop in the town.
