DAREDEVIL activities and live music will help make Felixstowe's annual Xtremefest the best yet, organisers predicted today.

The alternative sport, lifestyle and music festival, now in its third year, is being held at Brackenbury Fort on Sunday, July 26, from 11am, offering a plethora of attractions to entertain young people and their families.

Suffolk Coastal councillor Mary Neale said: “Xtremefest will give people the chance to have a go at activities that they would not normally come across at school or at their leisure centre.

“Alternative sports are as fun and challenging as those in the mainstream but they are not always widely available.”

Many of last year's attractions have returned by popular demand, including Laser Quest, the human gyroscope, climbing wall and skateboard half-pipe.

New to Xtremefest is the Demonstration Area, a place where spectators will be able to watch street dance performances, martial arts, cheerleading and spinning.

Entry is free, though it will cost 50p to take part in each activity or 5 for an unlimited pass.

In order to avoid congestion at Brackenbury Fort, a park and ride scheme will be in place at Felixstowe train station car park and The Grove/Eastwood Ho car park.

Bands, solo artists and DJs from the Soundwaves project will be performing throughout the day at the festival's Music Stage and in the evening Sleepercell and Mesh 29 will take to the stage at Felixstowe's Spa Pavilion for a special Xtremefest gig.

The gig starts at 7.30pm and tickets, which cost 10, can be booked in advance from the Spa Pavilion box office in person or by calling 01394 282126.
