WOODBRIDGE saluted more than 300 soldiers from 23 Engineer Regiment today as they marched through the town accompanied by a military band.

The freedom parade was led from Deben Pool along the streets of Woodbridge with the Band of the Irish Guards.

The regiment, which has twice been to Afghanistan since moving to Rock Barracks in 2006, was granted the freedom of the town by Woodbridge Town Council in 2006 and first exercised the right to march with drums beating and colours flying in June 2007.

Tomorrow the Evening Star will feature a full story and photos of the march, and look ahead to a charity fun day at Rock Barracks, in Sutton Heath.
