A FREIGHT train caused disruption today after it derailed at the Port of Felixstowe.The accident occurred just outside the gates to the north terminal on the spur line which takes trains from the port to join the Felixstowe-Ipswich line at Trimley station.

UNCONFIRMED reports today said there had been a trail derailment at Britain's biggest container port.

The incident, which is believed to have happened this morning, is said to involve a shunter, an engine used to move freight trains laden with containers around the terminal yards, at the north terminal at Felixstowe.

No-one was available to comment from the Port of Felixstowe or Network Rail.
