Rail passengers in Suffolk and Essex were faced with delays this morning after a woman fell from a bridge near Brentwood station in Essex.
Some services running through Ipswich, Clacton-on-sea, Braintree, Southend, Southminster and Norwich were cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised until 7.30am this morning.
According to a Greater Anglia spokesman, trains were halted between Brentwood and Harold Wood while emergency services moved the injured woman off the tracks.
A spokesman for the British Transport Police said: “It happened at about 4.20am near Brentwood Station.
“We received reports a woman had fallen from a bridge. “We were on scene alongside paramedics.
“She was taken to hospital with a fractured leg.
“Her injuries were not serious or life-threatening.”
All train lines have now been reopened and services have returned to normal.
A Greater Anglia spokesman said: “We are sorry if your travel plans are affected by this disruption.”
