IPSWICH'S town centre transport system is set for a boost after a £3million bid for funding was shortlisted for further consideration.
Schemes shortlisted for a share of a £200m transport infrastructure fund for new housing developments were announced today by Housing Minister Caroline Flint and Transport Minister Rosie Winterton.
The Ipswich scheme would boost transport links near the Waterfront to support around 15,000 new homes in the area that have either been already been built or are earmarked for construction.
Proposed by Suffolk County Council the scheme would mean the provision of bus priority measures at two key junctions as well as re-allocation of road space to provide pedestrian and cycle routes.
