A man was seriously hurt when he was struck by an overhead electricity cable after climbing on top of a freight train container at Ipswich rail station.

Officers from British Transport Police (BTP) were called to the station shortly before 3.45pm on Friday following reports of a trespass.

A spokesman for BTP said: “A man climbed on top of a freight train container and was struck by an overhead electricity cable.

“The man was taken to hospital where his condition is described as serious and potentially life-changing.

“Officers continue to make enquiries.”
