TALKING animals, fairies, witches and the adventures of a woman dressed as a man!

This year the Stowmarket Operatic and Dramatic Society is bringing Dick Whittington to the stage as their festive offering.

With characters like Humpy the camel, Sheik-Aleg-There and Captain Fishlock it is sure to be a night of great Christmas entertainment.

Dick Whittington is being played by Karen Long, who is well known the area after years of singing with her band, Plush.

As Dick makes the long journey to London he meets the beautiful Alice, played by Jenny Banks, and is offered a job in her father's store.

The witch has something to say about this and Dick Whittington is thrown out of London never to return.

If it had not been for his chance meeting with Captain Fishlock, played by Bernie Waspe, and the adventures they have, history could have been very different.

Chris Hutchinson, of the society said: "We had such a success with our last production of Wait Until Dark and we would love to continue with that this Christmas."

The show runs from tomorrow to January 4 at the Regal Theatre, Stowmarket.
