TWO children were taken to hospital in a critical condition today after a car plunged into a river, emergency services said.
The children, a boy and a girl, were both airlifted to hospital after the vehicle went into the River Avon in Evesham, Worcestershire, at about 9.20am, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.
An ambulance service spokesman said the boy and a man had escaped from the vehicle when its crews arrived, but the girl was pulled from the submerged vehicle around two hours later by police divers.
